Login and account access
What to do if your account is locked, you forgot your password or you want to change your login address, and how one user manages several companies.
The account is locked after several failed attempts
After five consecutive login attempts with a wrong password, the account is temporarily locked. This protects against automated attacks.
The lock is lifted automatically after three hours; no action is required. If you do not want to wait, reset your password instead: via "Forgot password" on the login page, you receive a link by email and can then log in again immediately.
Change or reset your password
The password must be at least eight characters long. There are no further requirements for its composition.
How to change your password while logged in is described under Change password. If you no longer know your current password, the only way forward is "Forgot password" on the login page, because changing it in the profile always requires the previous password.
If the password reset email does not arrive, check your spam folder first. The link is only valid for a limited time; if it has expired, simply request a new one.
Change your login address
Your email address is also your login name. You change it in the profile section of your account. After the change, log in with the new address; the old one is no longer valid for logging in.
One user, several companies
faktoora distinguishes between the user (your login with email and password) and the clients, i.e. the companies managed with it. A user can be linked to several clients and switch between them without logging in again.
The clients' data is completely separate: their own invoices, their own contacts, their own settings. No data is synchronized between them. Learn more under Multi-client capability.
Several people in the same account
If several people are to work in the account, create a separate user for each of them instead of sharing one login; see Create user and Change user permissions.
With a shared login, several people work on the same data at the same time. Any inconsistencies that arise cannot be attributed to a person, and faktoora accepts no liability for them.
